Devbhumi — Land of the Gods
Uttarakhand, known as Devbhumi (Land of the Gods), is home to some of Hinduism's most sacred shrines. The Char Dham — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath — draws millions of pilgrims annually. Kedarnath, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva, sits at 3,583 metres amid eternal snows and is reached by a 16 km trek from Gaurikund. Badrinath, abode of Lord Vishnu, welcomes devotees at 3,133 metres in the shadow of the Neelkanth peak. Rishikesh and Haridwar serve as the twin gateways.
