Watch the local evening ritual, families walking, couples sitting by the water, vendors selling corn and sugarcane juice. Find a bia hoi corner (outdoor street beer hall): ₹60 per glass of fresh draught beer. Join the communal tables. This is Hanoi at its most authentic.
Free morning in Hanoi: Ho Chi Minh complex (free to walk outside). Join a free walking tour from the hostel. Lunch: banh mi from Banh Mi 25 (₹60). Afternoon: shared bus to Ha Long Bay (3.5hrs).
